    Production Engineer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Denver, CO (US)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at BP (Denver, CO (US)) in October-2017.

    Interview

There was no initial phone screening. I received a phone call asking if I would be available for an interview near the new BP Lower 48 headquarters in Denver (which was still under construction) with a continuous improvement engineer, regional manager, and production manager. As part of the interview, I asked about the next steps in the interview and was told there were a few more interviews that week, and I would hear back in another 2 weeks. After the two weeks, I sent a follow up email to the email address that I had been told to contact in regards to the interview, and never received a response. Over a month after the interview, I received an automated email from the BP career center thanking me for my application, telling me I was not going to proceed in the process for this position, and telling me not to be disappointed that I never got to interview. Overall very upsetting that they couldn’t have at least sent a response thanking me for taking an entire day to travel and interview with them, and instead pretended that I never even interviewed.

    Interview Questions

    • No real “interview” questions prepared, just wanted me to ramble on about my experiences on my resume and would occasionally ask a question about something written in the resume I’d given them.   Answer Question

    Technical Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Houston, TX (US)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BP (Houston, TX (US)) in October-2017.

    Interview

A BP recruiter first reached out to apply as an intern through my school. First there was a HireVue interview - they had good practice questions to get acquainted with the experience of talking to yourself. A couple of weeks later a recruiter called to schedule an in-person interview. There were behavioral and technical questions. Both interviewers were male. To break the ice, one interviewer asked about my opinion on local Houston sports. I don't like sports - it was a bad icebreaker.

    Interview Questions

    • Typical behavioral interview questions. They have a right answer in mind for the technical interview questions, even when the question sounds open-ended. The technical interview was more qualitative than quantitative.   Answer Question
