I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Applied Materials (Sunnyvale, CA) in Jan 2019
Interview
This actually happened couple of year ago. I applied for a Finance Manager job posting via company website, got a phone call within a week to ask me come in for in-person interview. The person contacted me was the function executive admin, not HR. It was a back to back interview. It was not until I sat down and spoke with the first interviewer for 10 mins that I was told the job I applied has already been filled. They called me in to interview another Senior Manager role. It was not communicated with me ahead of time. Had I known this I would probably not come in since the senior manager role was well above my skill set. For the 2nd interviewer - after learning I have a toddler and I have pick up duties in the evening, he emphasized on ad-hoc analysis and tight deadlines of this job. He also challenged me a couple of times for questions like "If it's time to pick up your son from school and then we ask you to stay in the company to work overtime, what would you do" type of question. I got the feeling that he wanted me to draw the conclusion that I was not the right fit for this role. But honestly I did not apply for this specific role in the first place. The interview finished around 5pm and his last words was "OK, it's time to pick up your son" Apparently I did not fit in the culture, and I didn't receive any feedback afterwards.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Applied Materials (Kalispell, MT) in Nov 2016
Interview
Pretty quick accommodating and straight forward. No trick questions, heavily involved in prior work experience. Round 1 was with HR screening, round 2 on phone with site controller and another later with group controller. Round 3 was onsite with controller and team members.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Applied Materials (San Jose, CA) in Jan 2007
Interview
Had a horrible interview process. Got a phone call at 10pm in the evening and took more than one hour to complete it. Several interviewers used language other than English to interview. No clear information on which position was being offered among all the openings. No communication on whether offering or rejecting the application for a while but pulling the candidate back and forth into several rounds of interviews.
