I did not go through a formal interview process.
I was approached for a recruitment role in Canada while I wasn’t actively looking. After being contacted, I spent 30 minutes on two separate calls with two different recruiters. During the second call, the recruiter I spoke with asked me to formally apply for the position, implying that not applying would show a lack of interest. Since I was genuinely interested in the role, I took the time to update my resume within their requested timeframe, even though it was a busy period for me.
After submitting my application, I followed up with both recruiters three weeks later. The second recruiter, who had asked me to apply, never responded. As a result, I reached out to the first recruiter I had spoken with, who responded quickly. She explained that delays were due to limited manager availability, wildfires, and vacations, and assured me she would follow up with the second recruiter.
I replied to her email seeking clarification on whether I was still being considered for the role. Unfortunately, after that, she stopped responding entirely. As of now, a week after my last follow-up email, I still haven’t received any response.
It’s incredibly disappointing to experience such poor treatment as a candidate, especially since they were the ones who initially reached out to me. The least they could have done was provide an update or let me know I was no longer being considered. A simple response via email or LinkedIn would have been enough. Had they done that, I wouldn’t have felt compelled to leave this feedback on Glassdoor.
This experience has completely soured my perception of the company. As a recruiter myself, this has reinforced the importance of treating candidates with respect and following up, even when there’s no news to share. Unfortunately, the unprofessional treatment I received has left me with no desire to consider working with this company in the future.
