Alibaba's interview process is very different from most American and European countries. First of all, they do not have many internal headhunters/recruiters but rely heavily on outside headhunting companies to look for potential candidates on LinkedIn. These outside headhunters do not really know about the real internal business need of Alibaba and will likely recommend candidates to the wrong position. I began the interviewing process in March, the interview went well but they told me they need to fill in the role very fast, so they hired an internal candidate, so the process halted. Then the outside headhunter recommended me to another position which was a developer role (I do not have any software development experience), so this mismatch showed clearly in the interview process. Then an internal recruiter approached me for another product position in the company. She said I just need to present my experience and the hiring team will figure out which is the best product role I should be placed in the team. However, during the interview process, the hiring manager said the recruiter should have specified the exact role and should not just push me to apply generally. So you can see from March to August (half a year already), I was pushed back and forth without getting anything. This is really a joke and I cannot imagine Alibaba is rendered the best tech company in China and their recruting process is such chaotic.
Plus the CEO of this company emphasizes working from 9am to 9pm for 6 days a week is a bless, I guess I will avoid this company in the future.
