What is health insurance like at WestJet?
Pros
The travel benefits are the only good thing. Okay health insurance if you buy in.,
Cons
Long working hours, awfully low pay, zero flexibility in work schedule. Reprimanded for calling in sick.

Does WestJet pay for a gym membership?
Pros
- Ok gym - You hear about internal promotions sometimes - People can leave early or come in late for personal reasons; there are some liberties - While the backstabbing is an epidemic, very few people are overtly rude which I've come to appreciate
Cons
- Constant budget cuts...the cheapest company I have ever worked for. They charge $40 just for you to go to the Christmas party! - Insensitivity - Crazy amounts of politics; every conversation and presentation is a landmine so people don't try to change things - Rampant backstabbing - The 20 or so individuals that I work with daily are miserable. They don't leave because it's Calgary, and there's little else out there... - A terrible location in the NE - Managers who tip toe around other departments due to fear - Incessant and frequent non-disclosure agreements that cause enormous amounts of confusion - Incompetent project managers who treat people like they are numbers - Awkward and pressure filled "command centres" - A very out of touch, egotistical, and un-empathetic CEO who sends long and rambling emails to the entire office every week - You need to use your pass for every single daily motion... it gets extremely annoying - No laptops and brutally slow meeting room computers. Extremely inefficient and quite frankly, a security risk that they allow due to cheapness. - No diversity; not a single female in a VP position or higher, and most of the men look exactly the same. Working here was a mistake.
Advice to Management
Invest in HR and get someone to perform an audit and fix things! Morale is dead.

What is the retirement plan like at WestJet?
Pros
Some of my co-workers are a blast. Travel benefits are alright. 20% rrsp matching is awesome.
Cons
Night shifts 19:30-06:55 Evening shifts 16:30-03:55 (not really an evening ..more like a night shift) Day shift 06:00-17:25 Trax aircraft maintenance management system is complete disaster at WestJet. It is impossible to learn because there is no official training. It is super confusing and rarely doesn't give you issues. They recently implemented a mobile maintenance tracking with iPads. WestJet decided to call these "GoPads" because its trendier. They suck. Need constant updating every other day and are mandatory now.. Have to be charged 80% minimum at start of shift or your in trouble!!!!!!! I just want to throw this iPad through the wall everyday. Trying to order parts to complete your task is a complete nightmare; rarely do they have the parts and if they do don't expect them soon cause stores is super slow and disorganized. The new hanger was never thoroughly planned out/setup in a maintenance perspective. Pulling aircraft in and out of the hanger is such a pain. A toddler could have designed a better hanger haha! This is just skimming the surface but overall WestJet is a disaster. Hopefully Onex turns things around. Slim chance though. I cant see myself lasting very long here which I find sad because I had high hopes.
Advice to Management
Get your heads out of your rectum's. Listen to your employees for once. Stop hiring incompetent Americans.

Does WestJet offer dental insurance?
Pros
Flexible work schedule Decent medical and dental benefits Lost of time off including great vacation time Multicultural workforce paid sick days great maternity leave
Cons
Moral has been a bit low over the last few years as employees in many departments have recently unionized but it's still a fantastic place to work. The cons really depend on what department you are working in but the good far outweighs the bad.
