What is a typical working day like at Vivint Solar?

Pros

free lunch, nice colleagues, pto

Cons

the priorities shift week to week. It is one thing to move with The Times it's another to have no clue on what they are doing. Vice presidents enough have no clue on how to manage how to lead how to establish strategic objectives and follow through in order to make money this company seems to want to elevate and pay the Bros and lever and else go it's the worst manage company I have ever seen almost everyone at the top has no experience in the electric utility industry let alone the solar industry.

Advice to Management

During covid-19, follow what other companies are doing by top level employees donating salaries and bonuses to others to keep them employed. There is no strategic direction. No one knows diddly squat about the electrical utility industry. The place is a a joke.

Does Vivint Solar have an on site gym?

Pros

Lunch and cafe on site. Also, gym on site.

Cons

The department provides no reward or incentive to work here, gives endless amounts of empty and false promises, acknowledges poor morale and seems to not care whatsoever by do nothing to correct these actions. Other departments have activities or even an employee store to earn "credit" from work you have done to spend on products or items usually VSLR related. This department doesn't have any of that. The only activities this department has is when VSLR has a company-wide event or activity. The department displays poor decision making. Your input does not matter here unless it aligns with what your leadership thinks. The pay here is a joke. It does not matter if your performance review shows that you have been an excellent worker historically. It is borderline impossible to get a raise. They said you'd get a raise opportunity every 90 days, but they consistently ignore or fight this if you bring it up. The turnover rate in this department is embarrassingly high. Many VSLR 'vets" are walking away from the company because they are tired of working for a department that doesn't reward or acknowledge their efforts. Former employees from this department are literally going right down the street to work for other companies that are picking up what VSLR is clearly lacking.

Advice to Management

Follow the company values especially with this week being the 8 year anniversary. Live what you preach! Be good, do good. Recognize that most of the people working here are actually human beings with real lives and issues to deal with. Someone, please help the RECs and Rebates Department. This department is so toxic and miserable to work for. Changes NEED to happen to improve the quality of life for the employees working here.

Also, gym on site.

What is it like working with clients or customers at Vivint Solar?

Pros

The pros are that the environment is pretty relaxed and the people are typically awesome no matter what department you are in. They do have some nice perks like giving you food every day and having little spiffs here and there, and it is really close to the Freeway. It also offers a pretty nice work-life balance, and at least in my department, you can work overtime as much as you need. But they don't force you to work it.

Cons

The cafeteria would be a really nice perk if they didn't cut every employee's pay because they have it. Normally a scheduler makes closer to 16 an hour in other companies whereas here they only pay you 14. Also, they say they promote movement within the company but they cap you at a 10% raise when transferring even if the other people on that team are making more than that. For example, if you move from customer service to home upgrades customer service only makes 12, and the home upgrades department makes 14.50 but they will only offer you 13.20 to do the same thing as the other agents in home upgrades, because of their movement policy. So it is kind of a slap in the face and makes people not want to be loyal to the company. They also have a pretty annoying QA policy and the customers are almost all upset so if you are taking inbound calls then you will not enjoy working here.

Advice to Management

Remove the department transfer 10% raise cap when an employee tries to switch departments. Pay employees the normal market going rate and make the cafeteria an actual perk of working here. Also, bring in food trucks and give us vouchers as they do at Vivint Smart home, to add some variety because the cafeteria can get old.
