Pros

- The safety culture is outstanding - Work deadlines are reasonable - Facilities and working environment in general is top notch - I have never feel any harassments/ unappropriated comment from any leader - The full benefit package is good: pension and savings plan, salary and benefits, and restricted share unit program based on employee salary band and annual performance

Cons

- The company and work environment are super political, people gets promoted on who they know and who they are connected/ family, etc. - Once you join the company forget about career plan and significant salary increase, unless you get promoted - The company does not tend to promote the importance of being a subject matter expert; on the other hand people rotates job on a regular basis - The workforce tends to be or +25 yrs of experience or <10 yrs - Every time there is a commodity downturn, they take away employees benefits that never comes back

Advice to Management

- Promote fairly the employees - Develop subject matter expert in their areas and encourage people to take the technical part - Fairly increase salary not only based on inflation but also based on performance

Salary, nice co workers, free tea &amp; coffee, not too busy

Cons

General training not really relevant to work.

Pros

- Great starting pay, would be hard to find anything in that area that could complete with. - Health and dental benefits were outstanding as well as a pension & 401k. - Coworkers were all great and the USW employees all worked as a family

Cons

- The refinery is fairly old and starting to show its age and some units and equipment could use a overhaul. - Plant managers come and go so often it seems like they use this site as a springboard to move up, so not much incentives to spend money on improvements.

Advice to Management

Hire upper management that’s been at this facility for most of their career, instead of people who only plan on staying for 3-4 years. They would have more gratification in seeing improvements and wouldn’t be afraid of spending the money needed for this.

Lots of disengagement, career can be stuck unless you are selected as high potential.
