How are the career development opportunities at Russell Security Services?

Pros

There was a lack of communication, no career development or advancement, unhealthy work culture, lack of respect. Learned a valuable lesson.

Cons

They don't communicate with you, they expect you to read their minds. I wasn't allowed to move up in the company. That came from head office in Toronto and my supervisor. Always being pressured and yelled at. The hours I put into this company I wish I could take back. No respect.

What kind of career opportunities exist at Russell Security Services?

Pros

Not many pros. Poor Management, poor pay, unhealthy work environment, no job advancement, disorganized

Cons

There is no room for advancement. Very high turn over rate I've seen in any company. Management is disorganized. High stress and volatile work environment. Pay is low for the work expected to be done by the guards. Lack of training. Poor working conditions for employees. You’re on your own for most situations and can't expect help from management. I can't recommend this company.

Does Russell Security Services have any mentoring programs?

Pros

I can’t recommend this company after what I’ve gone through. The job doesn’t exist after you get it, insufficient hours, low wages, no benefits, no wage increase, unpaid training, unclean training facility & non-responsive management.

Cons

I was hired for an on-call Loss Prevention Uniformed Security Guards position for their LCBO site but was told once I was used to the job after a month or so, there would be full-time hours available. Was offered the job on the spot, told about paid training, and was excited to start this new leg of my career. The week of training was a joke. The trainer didn’t take it seriously at all. They kept leaving the room, leaving us just sit there reading aloud like it was a 6th grade English class, or unsure of what we should do next. I was told the training would be 9-5. The week of training, the staff barely showed up on time, even after I was instructed to make sure I was at least 10 minutes early. The first day I was standing outside waiting until someone finally showed up 5 minutes to 9, after a few of us had been waiting outside in temperatures below -20 for up to 25 minutes. The training was rushed and sent several mixed messages. Course topics such as de-escalation of heated situations were punctuated with stories of breaking people’s wrists, being violent with people, and a general attitude that despite the company not wanting their guards to be violent, that “must be why we’re here, to beat up old people and the sick”. Worst week of training I’ve ever had the displeasure of enduring. They couldn’t even clean the bathroom before the week-long training course. The floor was stained with dried urine and dirt from the outside. And after all this, I learned that the people in my course were all promised a non-existent full-time position. One of the classmates still has yet to get a shift with the company despite spending out close to $900 for supplies like a uniform, bullet-proof vest, and boots. And we never got paid for that week of training.
