Does Rogers Communications offer health insurance?

Pros

Good health insurance, good benefits. Directors are well trained.

Cons

They are decreasing salaries an d staff. They put high pressure on their employees.

Does Rogers Communications pay for a gym membership?

Pros

Rogers is big on promoting health and awareness. Full time employees can also enjoy a very low cost gym membership, get 50% off Rogers services (internet, mobile, etc). The renovated shared space environment is definitely an improvement and the diverse culture make you feel like you belong.

Cons

Like all companies, your work life can and will be affected by who's in charge and running the show. Unfortunately, I'd had move than my fair share of grief, working under people - anywhere from one level to three levels above me who don't know what they're doing and costing the company money. IT is still greatly under valued in most companies and sadly, Rogers is still one of them, which is surprising for a telecommunications company. That and combined with people in charge who don't really understand that IT is and will always be an investment. Getting it right the first time will save everyone headaches down the road.

Advice to Management

Those in charge should do better or at least be willing to learn and understand what it is your people do. Promote the right people and not just a "YES" man.

Does Rogers Communications offer an employee assistance or workplace counselling program?

Pros

Roger's provides many resources for development and has a mandatory development plan program. Reviews salaries to ensure you are paid fairly in the market. Great culture, a company I am proud to work for. Benefits, EAP program, discounts on services, pension and more are all great.

Cons

Toronto-centric, gaps between business units that can be difficult to bridge.

Does Rogers Communications offer disability insurance?

Pros

Benefits, wealth accumulation , paid short term disability

Cons

Severely underpaying employees compared to the competition. They give you the illusion of growth opportunities however they give you temporary "acting" or "incharge " roles where you perform the work of a higher position but do not get any monetary compensation. The downtown location has bed bug and roach infestations (disgusting) where they had to fumigate the office more than 3 times while I was there. The managers are gifted their positions due to tenure which has led to a dysfunctional management team who get paid to micromanage and literally avoid escalations by disappearing off the floor.

Advice to Management

If the frontlines are the "back bone" of the company as management claims, I suggest you put more effort into making employees feel valued. The biggest telecommunications company in Canada shouldnt being paying their frontline employees the lowest salary in Canada. Stop gouging employees and customers.
