Does Q4 offer vacation time?

Pros

- People & Culture team do try really hard to keep employees happy during WFH (lots of company swag, UberEats vouchers, virtual activities) - Unlimited vacation (only matters if you're allowed to use it)

Cons

- Huge turnover rate. - A lot of managers are poorly trained and don't know how to take care of their team properly. - Support team (arguably the backbone of the company) are treated like they don't matter and often dismissed and undervalued by everyone else. Also get paid the least in the entire company. - Everyone is extremely burnt out and overworked - many teams have been expected to work evenings and weekends. Senior management doesn't care. - CTO is known for breathing down people's necks and making everyone's lives miserable. Very demanding, gets angry easily, and he is the reason many have quit. - 5+ people from Product Management have been fired or quit in the last several weeks. The only ones left haven't been at the company for more than 2 months. - Very hard to get promoted unless you overwork yourself for years and years, or suck up to leadership who like to play favourites. - Unless you're a manager, base pay is very low compared to market value.

Advice to Management

Train managers (including C-suite leadership) properly and let people have a proper work/life balance. CTO definitely needs anger management classes. Don't just send gift baskets to try and make the problems go away - show that you actually care about our wellbeing!

How are the career development opportunities at Q4?

Pros

This is the first time in my life I actually enjoy coming to work. - The coworkers are amazing; Q4 seems to be very good at hiring people who are all very helpful, welcoming, friendly, and hard-working - Management is really good at making sure you are looked after during the onboarding process; they are really open to questions, they're transparent with any updates or expectations, and they really care about you as an individual. - The company has a strong focus on ensuring their employees are happy and engaged and they are constantly coming up with small things to really get their employees involved and to show each person is valued (ex. you have little branded lego men on a lego platform with your name on them and any time you pass a milestone or participate in an event you get a lego block to add to your platform_ - all the food and amazing coffee - dogs in the office - the benefits are amazing and they are very flexible with working remotely - They promote learning and career development so you often find members of teams have moved to different teams throughout their years at Q4. - Did I mention the amazing people?

Cons

None so far. One thing, you need to be able to adapt to change (as things move fast here) but for me, that is not a con.

Advice to Management

Keep it up, keep investing in your employees and they will strive to do their best for you. This honestly is the greatest place I have ever worked; I didn't realize a workplace could be like this.

They promote learning and career development so you often find members of teams have moved to different teams throughout their years at Q4.

How are promotions handled at Q4?

Pros

Q4 truly values its employees, provides a real professional and personal development. The company does believe in its mission statement, which is so impactful. The senior leadership team cares for their employees, always putting us first. The focus on work life balance is incredible. The energy of the work environment is upbeat and inclusive. There is also frequent internal promotions for pre-existing employees, which I feel is super valuable. From other side, the workplace is very fun, I really enjoy all companies events, which are hold constantly. Teams host also employee appreciation events like lunches and team building events which help keep the team unified. Even now, while WFH due to quarantine, company provides people with many different interesting virtual events, presentations, games, contests etc. what give people better understanding of the situation and much happier feelings. While working from the office ( before pandemic) the kitchen in the office was always fully stocked with cool healthy snacks. I feel calm and busy in the office and able to get my work done and enjoy my day. Q4 is a fantastic place to work, consisting of transparent leadership and an incredible company culture.

How do employees feel about their professional development opportunities at Q4?

Pros

- Great company culture - Support for professional growth - Good perks (unlimited PTO, health benefits, group RRSP, and the list goes on) - Autonomy and trust to enable people to contribute to success, not just another cog

Cons

- Boarding the limit of too much, too fast, but I see this as a "pro" too. I appreciate the high energy, it keeps work interesting. - Missing the in-person world, the pre-covid state of catching up in the kitchen getting a coffee or snack.
