Does PRA Health Sciences offer massages?

Pros

Family-like environment, birthday cake every month for birthdays, free breakfast on Fridays, various parties and happy hours paid for by the company, employee recognition.

Cons

Raises are only 3% yearly, promotions are based on who the manager likes best and not who knows how to lead a group or know what they are talking about, disgruntled employees who complain every day, incompetent project managers who barely know what they are talking about, sneaky/selfish upper management. During my first 3 months, training was all over the place. I felt like I was barely trained. You're often promised a promotion and it never happens no matter how hard you work for it.

Advice to Management

Promote those who deserve it and not those who brown-nose. Get with each department and see what could be improved to make employees happy. Provide additional training for those who'd like to branch out and learn other things outside of their duties.

Does PRA Health Sciences offer relocation assistance?

Pros

Decent benefit package, good client base.

Cons

Middle management only sees the value in the role you are currently filling rather than the sum of your experience and what you could bring to the table.

Advice to Management

Get to know your people, bring in a level of management hat not only knows the HR aspect but the area in which they oversee. Promote from within, you can teach process but you must already have people skills.

Does PRA Health Sciences offer parental leave?

Pros

Great way to get your foot in the door in the clinical trials industry! Even easier to get in if your referred by a friend or family member. Benefits are good but very expensive. PTO is on par with other CROs. No layoffs due to COVID which is a blessing. Free breakfasts on Fridays and the year Holiday party is a lot of fun. My FM was the best and the workload was very manageable. The Lenexa office just finished up a brand new remodel! Looks beautiful! I'll definitely miss the people I met while working here. I've worked here for 5 years and learned so much. Great company culture.

Cons

Everything else. The PTO is good but it doesn't roll over. No such thing as sick days or floating holidays. Maternity leave is 70% of your pay for 6 weeks. Yearly merit increases are an absolute joke (next to nothing). They will lead you on for months if not years regarding promotions and do the old "bait and switch". I was told I would get promoted in October and two days before the month was about to start I asked about compensation and title change and they told me that promotions were no longer happening and I had to wait until March of next year but continue the work for the new position. That was the last straw, I'm not working for free. I got lucky and my work to life balance was amazing but many others are overworked and underpaid. The turnover rate is astonishing. It doesn't matter how good you are at your job, they will expect you to stay and not get a pay increase year after year. Since it's such a large company, you're just a number to them.

Advice to Management

Don't lead on your employees and give them false hope about career development and promotions. Pay your employees well or they will continue to leave.

Does PRA Health Sciences have a pension plan?

Pros

Good management, benefits, value individuals.

Cons

Sometimes long hours but isn’t every job like that now? Pension could be better but again it’s difficult to grab any great pension unless you work in public sector or have been with a company for a lifetime .
