What is the salary like at PBS Systems?

Pros

Really cool people to work with. Company really promotes the team culture. Work environment is very welcoming and great.

Cons

Training for new employees is something that is really missing. You are expected to learn and know everything somehow on your own. This really affects morale. The pay is pretty low compared to the industry. Travelling for work you are not given a laptop just for work. Makes this tough when on the road.

Advice to Management

Get advice and feedback from frontline employees. Stay competitive within the industry so employees stay and see themselves at the company for their entire career not just a stepping stone. Benefits and vacation could be better. 2 weeks is insufficient.

The pay is pretty low compared to the industry.

What are other benefits and incentives like at PBS Systems?

Pros

Anyone can get hired and I mean anyone. However, One thing they do and I commend them for it is they do a fantastic job of being extremely diverse. No prejudice.

Cons

LOTS! Where to start...... Let’s see, they hire entry level people for just about every role because nobody with superior skills would take a job here unless they had no other options. (Myself included in that) Management is a complete joke. Qualifications to become a manager....., skills - nope, talent - nope, tenure - nope. Friends / family - yup! The turnover is tremendous outside of management and the overall compensation is abysmal. They are on the extremely low end of benefits and compensation. This is an ok place to start your career but if you have any skills or are even average in your abilities then there’s plenty of better places to have a career at. This company has the most basic medical and dental plan I have ever seen and they only cover half the premium so be prepared to shell out $150/mo for benefits if you have a family but then understand that the coverage they have chosen is extremely basic. I’ve never seen another B2B company make their employees pay half for medical coverage. (Though I’m sure they exist but definitely not a company I would want to work for) if a company doesn’t offer adequate medical coverage or benefits would you say they really value you as an employee? They offer $40/day meal allowance if you spend the night but if you travel for the day and are gone 16 hours, too bad. They make you pay for half of your work assigned laptop. They only offer $0.40/km for mileage and they make you pay for your own company branded clothing. Want company matched retirement options?..... don’t look at PBS then. They don’t offer it. They’ll have you on the road 4 weeks a month but tell you 2 weeks is all that is expected when you’re interviewing. You’ll be at dealerships for upwards of 12 hours a day with no added compensation. Quite literally, not only one of the the worst companies to work for in any industry but especially in the DMS space. There are other DMS companies out there bigger, better and more well managed than PBS. I suggest researching them and then applying. (Psssst, I work for one of them now and they are 1000% better than PBS in my opinion.)

Advice to Management

Review the management style and let go of the dinosaurs and bring in new blood. The antiquated ways your senior managers are running the business will catch up to you. Business isn’t done the way it was 25-30 years ago but someone at PBS hasn’t gotten that message. You’re successful and you run a profitable business so who am I to criticize your decisions but I also know what I hear from other staff, customers and industry people and PBS does not have a good reputation. This will catch up to you at some point. Also, quit posting fake reviews on Glassdoor. It undermines the legitimacy of the service. And before you say that you don’t do that, you do!! I was even asked to provide a positive 5 star response by my manager. When you read a review on Glassdoor and in the “cons” section it says “none, great place to work” that’s a fake review. Even the happiest of employees will have something to gripe about. No company is perfect but lots are horrible. PBS falls in the latter I’m afraid.

They are on the extremely low end of benefits and compensation.

How often do employees say they are paid at PBS Systems?

Pros

Not much, it's like any other job, regular paycheck.

Cons

It's funny to see PBS posting Fake Reviews to boost star rating. IT's just a crappy place to work, as most genuin reviewer mentioned. Now the VPs and their rat buddies are creating fake accounts and post FAKE "great to be part of family business" BS. Makes me laugh. Just shameless!!!

Advice to Management

Friend & Family doesn't mean they have the skill to manage, I can train a goat better than these guys!

Does PBS Systems offer bonus pay?

Pros

I have seen many negative comments about this company and it’s not all warranted! Now that I this is out of the way let’s get down to business. Like any company it has it’s challenges. These challenges are due to the rapid growth of the company. Whilst I can’t speak for every department I was apart of their IT department. This company gave an amazing opportunity to learn and grow as an IT professional, now if your looking for an easy job stay away! Go work at maybe Walmart. The CEO is an amazing guy! Very approachable and yes there are members of family working there, get over it! The people that you will meet there treat you like family. The company promotes health by having an indoor gym. The IT team I worked with was amazing! They mentored and trained me and the individuals I supported on a daily basis showed a lot of love and was understanding even if you made a blunder. I can’t stop thanking the lead and Manager of the IT department for the mentoring they gave me. Once again if you are looking to hone your skills learn new technologies build your resume this is the company for you. I left this company for monetary reasons and have come to learn it’s not all about the money.

Cons

High turnover due to how rapidly the this company is growing. You get discouraged due to the pay increase and bonus structure. Can be a little chaotic due to how quickly you have to learn, but once again I had great team mates to support me. Better benefits package, I know optical benefits can be tricky but as an IT professional you stare at a screen all day.

Advice to Management

You create a lot of talent! Please don’t lose them to other companies. Managers need to have more one on one meetings monthly to evaluate where staff members are at what they are experiencing. When decisions are made at the top about staff requests eg. more pay or better work life balance, more transparency is needed in the decision making process so staff does not feel as though they are working in vain.

You get discouraged due to the pay increase and bonus structure.
