What is the retirement plan like at National Rural Utilities Cooperative?
Pros
Nice building, occasional catered lunch.
Cons
The worst software integration of anywhere I have ever worked. Riddled with bugs that IT can never seem to tackle. You can spend an entire day getting your permissions back to access software. Compliance processes and procedures are not adhered to, the company is begging for an audit. You will find high turnover among the younger employees who realize that low compensation with the promise of a pension simply isn't an attractive prospect when Nova is littered with companies willing to pay market (or near market) rate. You will find climbing the ladder at CFC difficult when the geriatrics who don't understand how emails work are stomping on your feet from above as they wait for the sweet taste of retirement cake. When they finally do retire you will find out that they have ignored all kinds of CFC policies when you inherit their workload. This will make your life hell. For those of you who plan to work as contractors a word of advice: don't. HR will sell you on a dream of one day being a full-time employee. It isn't going to happen. Hold out for better if you can. I can't speak to the job the current CEO is doing but the previous one was reckless with the lives of his employees. At the start of the pandemic, he gathered all employees in the atrium (a superspreader event with an older population) and assured everyone that COVID, like ebola (fills one with confidence) would burn out soon and infection rates would plummet. The company was not ready for remote work when they finally pulled the trigger and work product suffered.

How are senior leaders perceived at National Rural Utilities Cooperative?
Pros
The new CEO shows promise and is making good decisions.
Cons
Many employees target their work to what the SVP wants (or won't erupt to) rather than on what is the best recommendation/decision for the company. Obviously the executives are the decision-makers, but don't they want all relevant information to make the decision? Employees are worried about providing information that may be contrary to an SVP's preconceived opinion, rather than straight-up facts. It's based on ego and not the best way to run a company.
Advice to Management
Employees are given a lot of talk about how hard they work and how valuable they are - this talk needs to be converted to action!
