How are senior leaders perceived at National Gallery of Canada?

Pros

Hourly pay is good. Employees of 6+ months get enrolled into the Public Health Service Plan which is nice. My direct management (i.e direct supervisors and managers) are attentive, caring, accommodating and hard working, albeit overworked and overlooked by their higher ups. This is a great summer job, and working here full time does have it’s benefits, but you will get a headache wondering how the big wigs think everything is working fine.

Cons

Badly organized. Separate departments severely lack communication. The day to day procedures are not streamlined. Important departments take long summer vacations despite being crucial during our busiest time. Upper management gets their kicks from rebranding without making any small meaningful changes. Since my job was dealing directly with the public, part of my job was the unfortunate task of trying to politely explain to visitors why signs are not updated, why the website isn’t working properly, why we don’t recycle, ETC.

Advice to Management

Do better. Pay attention to your staff that is on the floor every single day!!!

Upper management gets their kicks from rebranding without making any small meaningful changes.
