What is health insurance like at Mitacs?

Pros

Health benefits were generous. Vacation Working from home flexibility was generous.

Cons

The company went downhill, fast. Despite increased government funding, engagement plummeted. Mitacs isn't about Canadian innovation anymore, nor is it about the bridge between academia and industry. No, Mitacs sole focus is to pump out as much social justice warrior rhetoric to it's employees at every opportunity, and hope that makes employees feel good about working there. Extremely weak executives. Sickening pay. Nepotism. Avoid, avoid, avoid

Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and business partners, when making decisions, take into account their perspectives and their needs instead of basing your decision on what you think is best for them Stop protecting bad managers just because they are top performers Set up your employees for success by providing them with a healthy work environment where performance does not equate overworking, provide them with the tools they say need, not what you think they need, hire extra resources or outsource some of the work when the workload increases exponentially Do something about all the unpaid extra hours people have to put in to deliver Please bring back the human, the social aspect of the non-profit organization that you are Live your core values, preaching collaboration, innovation, diversity and inclusion is not enough, walk the walk, be really open to new ideas, show some flexibility Trust your employees more, respect and appreciate them, show them more empathy, show more consideration for their skills, experience and diversity they can enrich the organization with.
