How are the career development opportunities at MediaMath?

Pros

I am constantly learning, and they urge you to take ownership of projects very early on. My colleagues are smart and friendly, and the company as a whole has a fun culture. There is a dedicated HR team that is revamping MediaMath's learning and development and career path opportunities. There is also a true emphasis on work/life balance. The office location and views are also amazing.

Cons

The pace at which you have to learn and contribute can be overwhelming, especially in the beginning. There are also growing pains at the moment, but this should be expected from a company growing this quickly.

What kind of career opportunities exist at MediaMath?

Pros

MediaMath has had its ups and downs, but Konrad, our new President, has come in and made a really strong impact. He's let go of a lot of our dead weight, making strong decisions, and hiring a so-far-so-great CFO. Our tech org is coming together nicely, our pod structure sets our client services teams up for success - things are looking bright. MediaMath has been a great place to work for me. They go above and beyond to reward high performers and really do take care of the people who work hard and care. Good people, good snacks, great work culture, strong benefits, gorgeous HQ, lots of freedom & autonomy. They trust in their employees, and the work/life balance is really good.

Cons

It's not perfect, but they've weeded out a lot of the mean and incompetent people. Career pathing could be better: there's not much opportunity for growth at a certain point.

Advice to Management

Keep weeding out the bad eggs, focusing on customer centricity, and working to retain those who make MediaMath great. Hire an exceptionally strong sales leader & more engineers.

What is the feeling of job security at MediaMath?

Pros

- Good benefits - Good people / culture - Good work life balance

Cons

- No personal growth unless you know someone. Experience does not matter - Uncompetitive salary - no yearly pay rise (maybe limited to certain offices and/or people) - People jumping from one depart to another with no experience into senior positions. It is quite demoralising to see - It feels like there are more VP's and directors than individual contributors - VERY US centric - Constant production issues - the engineering teams try their best to keep a broken product running. Releases often lead to production issues - Leadership are interested in pushing out new products/features when the time should be spent on fixing/optimising the current state of the product The company has not been the same since the well publicised 2016 layoffs. There have been regular cuts to budgets/benefits since then. I personally do not trust the vast majority of these positive reviews.

Advice to Management

The company still has some great people working for them. Value them more otherwise they will also leave. Your people are just as important as your clients if not more. Be transparent. When the 10% global pay cuts were made senior leadership were asked if they would also be taking pay cuts. This question was ignored.

How is management perceived at MediaMath?

Pros

- A lot of great, dynamic and hard working individual - A care free environment - Snacks in office - Casual dress code

Cons

Company lacks motivated management and senior leadership to resolve some of the issues facing this company. This is a bigger issue than just growing pains. Critical security flaws and underpreforming engineers a plenty with apathetic people just trying to earn a paycheck and go home.

Advice to Management

Provide greater support to perceived cost centers. Get those toxic managers out of there and truly live up to your core values.
