Does ArcelorMittal Dofasco have a pension plan?

Pros

Still a stable work environment where you can make decent money until you retire

Cons

Pays less than industry average in almost all area's. They make up for this with profit sharing, VCP and overtime. But they have been cutting back on almost everything, no more shift premiums, less vacation, no more pension. Expect this to continue and make your peace with it before you join.

How are the career development opportunities at ArcelorMittal Dofasco?

Pros

Reasonable hours, pay, benefits. Great working culture and environment. Kind and intelligent senior management that cares about its employees. Lots of retirements are creating plenty of career opportunities.

Cons

You won't get rich as a salary employee no matter how many hours you work. But that's OK if you're looking for a balanced life.

Advice to Management

Increase annual raise budgets more during record breaking profit years. Allow more days to work from home.

-Pay is good for Hamilton -Profit sharing is very lucrative -Work from home options

Cons

-Very outdated technologies -Lack of technical expertise by staff -Too much work on too few people -More effort is placed on avoiding work rather than executing projects properly -Management is clueless about the tech and people they're supposed to manage, leads to bad architecture decisions -No real advancement options for technical stream -Toxic culture

Pros

Good culture amongst peers High degree of independence typically granted for technical roles Opportunities to move between projects(at same level)

Cons

Frequent conflicts in leadership, often seemed that concerns would never make it past immediate leadership and certainly never across to other departments Leadership typically non-technical or far removed from technical positions Extremely outdated technologies required even for creation of new projects

Advice to Management

Listen to your employees on their major concerns, management would always try to fix minor, but easy issues while ignoring major but difficult ones
