Current Employee - Flight Service Manager

I have been working at Virgin Atlantic Airways full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Well structured. Regular and thorough training. Modern aircraft. Amazing colleagues. Everyday is different. Variety of destinations. Free reign to wow customers. Encouraged to be yourself.

Cons

Rosters can be late only 2wks before the month starts. Difficult to plan ahead however there is a good swap system in place. Naturally jetlag but unavoidable with air travel. Company give enough days... off after flights to mitigate accumulative fatigue.

Advice to Management

On board performance reviews on a regular basis. Tangible feedback.

Former Contractor - Flight Attendant

I worked at Thomsonfly for more than 3 years

Pros

Pay was good and uniform was provided for free

Cons

Awful fixed term contracts, couldn’t care about you individually as a staff member was just a number to them. Little room for progression or movement as the company is full of dinosaurs who couldn’t... care about there jobs but on old legacy contracts. Even after 4 years of fixed term contract no sign of year round job. The issue with fixed term contracts every you are seen as a new employer, so even after 4 years I got no travel benefits or sick pay for the 1st 3 months (the contract was only 7!!)

Advice to Management

Review your contracts as you lose so many amazing crew year on year to different airlines with better contracts
