Former Employee - Management Trainee

I worked at Travis Perkins full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

I started off in another position working for PTS, the training was mainly in house throughout the scheme and was relevant to daily operations. The pay at the time for the work was fairly ok!

Cons

I got moved three times during the scheme due to them liquidating half the branches and cycling out old managers. I worked in Birmingham, Bristol and Nottingham... was given tons of false promises... and then thrown into an underperforming branch where half the people challenged me due to my title! I can’t comment more than that however because I was paid off to keep my lips sealed! Just make sure if your doing the scheme that you don’t work for PTS as for some reason they’re paid from the branch... the managers don’t like that!

Advice to Management

Don’t pay apprentice’s out of the branch budget... should have kept the good BM’s and RD’s seen the company go upside down!

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Euro Car Parts full-time

Pros

Hard workers who stand out can progress quickly. Large staff discount. Sunday's off. Mostly good colleagues. Movement between locations possible.

Cons

0 hrs contracts. 55hr Management contracts. Low levels of natural light of working in a warehouse. Dealing with rather shady proprietors can mean some sales deals can become skewed.

Advice to Management

Emphasis on sales of penny profit poor performing products does not establish a loyal customer base. Pay scale is very low for those not in Management or Sales positions.
