too long work hours and lax approach
I have been working at Harris Computer full-time for more than a year
They have amazing development plans for employees interested in moving up or just expanding their knowledge. The positive encouragement and coaching has allowed me to move up from an entry level... position to Director level within 2 years. You can go as far as you want as long as you put in the effort! They have a proven business plan. Our business unit was struggling before Harris came in. Within a year we were one of the most profitable units.
Unfortunately a reality of being acquired means the business is assessed with the goal of making it profitable (not re-selling it). Changes comes with this assessment of course. If you can weather... the initial flurry of adjustments it's only upwards from there!
Advice to Management
When the business unit I work for was bought by Harris everyone was afraid of what it meant. We had multiple executives come in and present to us which sadly didn't have a positive affect on the... anxiety levels. The executives themselves were great people but the messages were lost because they were "executives". What might be better for future acquisitions is to have a team of Harris employees from various job levels give their stories of being acquired. Focusing on the positives that came from it while also touching on some of the harder truths of acquisitions. It might resonate more coming from previously acquired employees (at a more peer to peer level).
