Pros

Interesting work is being done here

Cons

Things are getting a little shaky. I understand that people are being laid off because there isn't enough work coming in. Starting to worry that this company is heading in the wrong direction.

Advice to Management

I understand that they are starting Layoffs due to lack of work and business is slowing. Company outlook was much better before being purchased by Belcan.

I have been working at OfferUp for less than a year

Pros

Large well funded company with startup culture. Quality hardware to work on. Lots of ownership opportunity

Cons

Most of the tribal knowledge is lost after the mass layoffs from the previous year. Ownership opportunities come from systemic issues within the company. Nearly zero guidance to get your tickets on... track. Management is Intense and extreme on their impositions Objectives are vague or confusing. Tech stack is in a state of flux. Codewords are used and cause a lot of confusion A lot of new people. Mismanagement of skill and talent. Credentials are more important than reality when addressing problems.

Advice to Management

Document your knowledge, Set realistic expectations for deadlines, Accept the criticism from the team meetings, Listen to your team. 16 hour workdays are unacceptable. To anyone who is... thinking of taking an offer here i would encourage you to keep looking while you are starting here so that you cant try before you buy. With nearly 10 years experience in DevOps I stepped into this org and within two weeks was itching to find another job. Most the people i worked with were fresh out of college with no idea what its really like to work outside of a place like this and no one could give me any direction on what i needed in order to be productive.
