I have been working at Dignity Memorial full-time for more than 10 years
With the exception of a couple years, I have worked with this company my entire licensed career of 25 years. I have a very fair salary that I absolutely cannot complain about, the opportunity for... bonuses on a number of things, very good benefits package, profit sharing, RRSP matching, company car, many other perks like 5 weeks vacation, clothing allowances, 15 days of paid sick time that re-accumulate when used (not just 15 days a year), etc. My schedule is fair and relatively decent considering it’s funeral services. Yes the company is not perfect but it’s consistently trying. I’ve been privileged to be invited into a number of innovation meetings and my input is often sought, with the experience of traveling. Not every decision is wholly accepted but I’ve had multiple opportunities to move to other companies but they just can’t offer what I’m getting with SCI. I’ve been sent for extensive training and invited to participate in multiple subgroups within the company. Overall, I’d highly recommend this company.
Sometimes it’s frustrating to feel like it’s pulling teeth to get money invested back into the buildings. Bonuses were given to all full and part time staff as appreciation for our work during COVID... with the exception of the managers, even when the frontline managers worked just as hard during COVID. That was a tough pill to swallow. If there’s a difficult/toxic employee amongst us, it feels like the company drags their heals to move that employee out.
