What Employees Say
I have been working at AmeriHealth Administrators full-time for more than 3 years
You get the perks of an Independence BlueCross Employee (IBX University, gym, cooking classes, corporate discounts, etc.), the coy pond in the lobby is nice and it's a newly renovated office space,... centrally located in downtown Philly - easy metro access, business growth - acquisition of MN company, Great for "dead weight" employees as you can hide for years without contributing much and not get fired.
History of poor change management, toxic culture of unhappy associates holding out until they can retire, CEO is a just a figurehead as a couple favored upper execs control the business decisions in... the background, too many consultants from opposing firms pulling leadership in different directions, associates are intimidated to speak up and aren't informed of company direction so rumor mill is always churning. Company ethics aren't what your would expect from a BCBSA affiliated company.
Advice to Management
As a manager, it's difficult to inspire associate-level employees to give their best effort when we are constantly undercut by upper-management and blamed for issues we had been warning about for... years, but execs ignored and/or scoffed at concerns. I would increase transparency and accountability for all teams - too many teams "sweeping it under the rug" for someone else to deal with or until it becomes a critical "all hands on deck" issue. Also, it wouldn't hurt to give SINCERE recognition for those working hard and doing the right thing.

Great benefits, beautiful office space, amazing volunteer opportunities
Experienced bullying from manager and sexist and hurtful remarks from colleague that were dismissed by manager. Management was unable to effectively inspire and handle the diverse personalities of... the team. Lots of learning went amiss.
Advice to Management
Remove bias. Understand that positivity and a pleasant demeanour goes a long way with staff. To senior management, I recommend hiring enthusiastic individuals who are driven to inspire, coach,... motivate, be involved, and remain fair and amicable with employees.
