Our CIO is pushing us to learn a programming language that no one has heard of. He used it in his old job. One looked into it and found that no company or government agency in my state used it. It doesn't appear in TIOBE Index. It doesn't appear in Stack Overflow's to programming language. My colleagues and I see this as a huge career limitation. What can we do about this?

Marijuana is not legal on a federal level, and yes, many companies still test for THC. I worked for a financial services company in NYC that tested. Doesn’t matter if the state or city decriminalized it.

financial service organizations are typically more worried about the federal government. I don’t know about NYC. There is a possibility they test for multiple drugs, including THC, but they don’t use the THC results.
Marijuana is legal in NY isn’t it? Also when’s the test? Understand THC is detectable from 3-30 days so drink up and flush the system!
I took a drug test for amex last year and requested my background check report - the drug screening portion did include THC. I think there’s a testing loophole in NYC if the employer is highly regulated or does work with the federal government. At the same time, I read somewhere that the company could’ve ordered a 6(?) panel drug screening and the lab doing the screening would omit THC results due to local laws
