What does a Volunteer do?
Volunteers provide service or support to a community group, nonprofit organization, charity, or other entity which generally offers some sort of value to the community or general public. They typically do not receive financial compensation for this work. The work they perform can include virtually any type of assistance an organization might need, and often involves manual labor, clerical support, or specialized expertise related to a trade or profession. They may also organize or participate in events or fundraising campaigns. Many chartable or nonprofit organizations rely heavily on volunteers as a critical part of their infrastructure enabling major projects and initiatives.
Volunteers typically have a high school diploma, but often have additional qualifications or specialized expertise. They must be flexible and willing to perform a range of tasks needed for a particular event or project.
