They develop and implement programs and platforms, often after undertaking a high-level analysis of the organization needs and existing resources. They frequently work in close collaboration with solutions architects, developers, engineers, and other specialists. They stay informed of the latest emerging technologies so they can recommend innovative solutions that address an organization’s challenges and objectives. They create a technical roadmap plotting current and future systems, and also create documentation related to the technological infrastructure.
Technology architects typically have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field. They should have experience planning and building comprehensive technological architecture systems. They must be detail oriented, with good project management skills. Proficiency with common programming languages is helpful.
