What does a Technical Sales do?

Technical sales professionals specialize in the sales and promotion of technological products and services. They develop and execute strategies to identify and cultivate prospective customers. They generate leads and compile a database of contacts. They establish relationships with key decision-makers and other high-value prospects. In order to be able to make a compelling, targeted sales pitch, they educate themselves on the products by working closely with developers, marketing, and other internal teams.

Technical sales professionals typically have a bachelor’s degree in a technical field and a background in sales or IT roles. They should have solid sales skills and the ability to deliver a persuasive sales pitch. They must be well-informed about their company’s technology-based offerings. Proficiency using sales management software programs and related tools is helpful.
