What does an Equipment Technician do?
Equipment technicians analyze root causes of equipment failures and propose corrective actions. They provide round-the-clock support for clients and troubleshoot their equipment problems and concerns. They also perform regular inspections to identify and correct equipment malfunctions, repairs and replacements. Equipment technicians help assemble, test, and maintain company equipment and read and understand equipment operations and maintenance manuals. They provide employee assistance and on-the-job training when requested and propose improvements to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
Equipment technicians ensure their work adheres to company policies and safety regulations and maintain their working facility in a clean, safe, and organized way. They maintain the equipment they work with and document any maintenance and repair procedures for future reference. Equipment technicians develop cost reduction initiatives by utilizing materials and resources effectively and maintaining inventory control of equipment, tools, and parts. Equipment technicians need a high school diploma and technical certification.
- Load and unload rental equipment, and prepare equipment for rental.
- Maintain all tools and equipment in clean, safe, working order.
- Monitor and track the repair status of inoperative equipment.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain records of work orders and parts issued.
- Clean all trucks and maintain a clean work area.
- Plan, organize, and communicate responsibilities and priorities to ensure the successful operation of the department.
- Assist on various special projects for medical equipment systems.
- Checkout and demonstrate trucks for customers as well as delivering truck.
- Responsible for good housekeeping in the shop and at the job site.
- Put the team ahead of individual needs and display a positive attitude.
- Greet customers and assist with inquiries about equipment.
- Perform tasks to support the technical services group as required.
- Perform QC analysis, identify product changes and segregates as required.
- Completing each repair job in a timely, efficient and professional manner.
- Research for maintenance issues and projects, and provide reports, briefings, white papers, and articles.
- Define problems: Collect data, established facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Complete small electrical repairs and welding projects as needed.
- Interface with end-users, department managers and supervisors on routine issues.
- Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies, procedures, and governing requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree in electronics engineering, engineering or logistics, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with calibration and disassembly.
- Excellent problem solving and decision making abilities.
- Strong command of English language and good communication skills.
- Displays strong work ethic.
- Requires meticulous attention to detail.
