What does an Assisted Living Coordinator do?
Assisted living coordinators plan and oversee a wide range of processes related to the daily operation of an assisted living facility. Their role typically includes budgetary, HR, and operational responsibilities. They also frequently interact directly with residents and families, along with external contacts such as vendors and service providers. Coordinators ensure activities and services are conducted in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. They may have a primary role in recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising facility staff. This position may also involve marketing or community relations duties.
Assisted living coordinators may have educational and/or license requirements according to the regulations of their specific state. They commonly have a bachelor’s degree and a professional background in the healthcare or assisted living fields. These professionals typically have supervisory experience and familiarity with basic HR tasks and processes.
- Coordinate all pharmacy/medication needs and ensures compliance with state regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Hire and supervise nursing staff for assisted living unit.
- Develop and monitor departmental budget, forecasts and staffing plan.
- Attend, and at times may lead, the Individual Service Plan meetings with residents and families.
- Ensure appropriate supervision of the students in the program.
- Serve on, participate in, and attend various facility committees as assigned.
- Monitor routinely for changes in condition to ensure changes are addressed.
- Conduct prototype to support the launching of programs and activities.
- Allow residents to continue playing an active role in society.
- Participate in the setting of departmental priorities and make job assignments.
- Ensure that each resident's pre-admission screen is completed prior to move-in.
- Lead and ensure resident medical records and chart information are maintained according to State guidelines.
- Support mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.
- Monitor and adjust staffing levels, care planning/delivery, and supply inventories to ensure the neighborhood meets labor cost, supply cost, and quality of care goals.
- Develop plans and manage best practices through engagement of team.
- Assist in the resolution of issues and remains current on policies and procedures.
- Direct and ensure that services are performed in consideration of the health, welfare, safety and the satisfaction of our residents.
- Prepare documentation and reports for annual budget and forecasting meetings.
- Execute strategies to build alliances with key referral sources.
- Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.
- Bachelor's Degree in business or exercise science.
- Strong command of English language and good communication skills.
- A natural leader and problem solver with demonstrated critical thinking and collaboration skills.
- Able to oversee care of residents, including bathing and grooming.
- Excellent time management abilities.
