What does an Apple Repair Technician do?
Repair technicians provide repair and maintenance services for vehicles, equipment, appliances, computers, or other machinery or systems. Depending on the nature of the item needing repair, these services may be performed in the shop or onsite at the client’s business or residence. Repair technicians commonly use diagnostic tools to identify and assess the problem. They provide a cost estimate and timeline for anticipated repairs, and complete the work upon client approval. They also provide routine maintenance, customization, and troubleshooting.
Repair technicians typically have completed a training program or earned a technical certification. Some roles may also have licensing requirements. They must have good analytical abilities and problem-solving skills. Experience using computerized diagnostic tools is an advantage. These positions can be physically challenging and may involve working under strenuous conditions.
- Troubleshoot, identify problems, and perform basic mechanical or electrical repairs.
- Read and follow written technical service procedures to determine unit performance.
- Understand and maintain all safe work practices and rules.
- Read and understand work order and record repairs correctly.
- Perform assigned work while maintaining efficiency, yield, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records (time, repair orders and parts usage) on computer.
- Perform other related duties as required or directed.
- Provide information to customers regarding repair status and quotations.
- Assist with management of the store in the Store Team Leader's absence.
- Participate in all safety meetings, training requirements, and team meetings
- Complete invoices, daily route sheets, and weekly reports as required.
- Work with the senior technician to inspect and validate repair parts.
- Frequent bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, squatting, overhead reaching, climbing ladders.
- Communicate statuses of repair with the production manager frequently.
- Ability to interface with store associates, suppliers and customers in a respectful and effective manner.
- Assist field service technicians with terminal related problems or in obtaining necessary supplies.
- Order inventory for all areas and operations to ensure restaurant is stocked with appropriate levels of product.
- Work performed in a shop setting due to location of tools and customer vehicles.
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, electrical technologies or electronics or equivalent experience.
- Quick learner who pays careful attention to detail.
- Comfortable preparing cost estimates.
- Solid command of English language and good communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.
- Requires good manual dexterity.
