The sick pay benefit is almost too generous and does nothing to stop some employees to just take sick absence as they know they will be paid regardless

Worst thing about Royal Mail sick pay (full sick pay upon 12 months employment and access to a full range of OHS support) is it is abused by too many employees.

StarStarStarStarStar Former Operations Manager in Preston, England

Pays from day1 - good for the employee, difficult for managers to prevent short term absence

  • 20 Aug, 2017
StarStarStarStarStar Former Postman in Leeds, England

It's money for being off sick but if you're off long term you need more money probably

StarStarStarStarStar Current Employee in Liverpool, England

Far too generous but useful for those actually ill

StarStarStarStarStar Former Returns Lead in Belfast, Northern Ireland

I could take a day off sick and get paid - pretty normal Never had long term sick so can't comment

  • 03 Jun, 2017
StarStarStarStarStar Current Employee in Liverpool, England

6 months sick pay at full pay then reduced to national sick pay

  • 24 Apr, 2017
StarStarStarStarStar Former Operations Manager in London, England

Full pay sick pay for 6 months.

  • 24 Apr, 2017
StarStarStarStarStar Current Employee in London, England

its too easy for staff to go sick, so it an abused policy

  • 21 Apr, 2017
StarStarStarStarStar Current Postwoman in Coventry, England

The best bit is that people get really long Sick Pay and time off work if they have sick note from doctor. The worst bit is having to take time off to support family
