Most sign-up pieces are split shifts. They double up the communes. Not work well if you are not living and working in the near vicinity.

Best thing is that it is an extended benefits package covering a wide variety of items for you, your partner and children.

The good thing is that there is a benefit package, and it covers 80% of most of dental, medical etc.

Pension plan is really helpful.. Employer contributes 1 percent more than your contribution

Pension is the best thing. You have to work 25 years though to feel this benefit's full advantage. The employer contributes as much as you do or even more.

When you are first hired, you are most likely a Casual, Part Time Temporary. You don't really get many benefits as that is for regular employees. The biggest benefits were really the pay and the free transit pass. The pass lets you travel everywhere for free, even on the West Coast Express train. What can be a downside are the hours. Can work as early as 5:30 am or as late as 12:30am. Shifts vary, you could do late night shift until 11:30 and have work the next day at 7:30 am

The sick plan is set up to both encourage and discourage use. If you are sick, there is much hassle after 3 days. If you are not sick, it is not rewarded. Overall view is that time off is "lost" if not used. Great West Life administers the plan notoriously poorly, requiring a committee to cope with them on the members' behalf.
