It's very expensive for what it is, CP does not value you're life and they'll find subtle ways to let you know. They'll also directly tell you, Keith creel will literally say it any speech he gives, 'railroading is a tough industry, you're going to miss a lot of life events, there going to be weddings, births and birthdays you'll miss, you're going to miss anniversaries and holidays, you're going to be on call 24/7, there's going to be long days and even longer nights' this isn't a direct quote from Keith, it's paraphrasing of a speech he gives so often I'm sure a few people in the company actually do have it memorized word for word. All that to say CP proudly does not care about your life and if you want it insured you'll have to pay through the nose.

  • Pension Plan(7 comments)

    Good returns if invested right

  • Maternity & Paternity Leave(4 comments)

Highly discouraged for both genders but particularly for men the culture is quite toxic.

The health benefits are a joke. They're the cheapest I've ever seen almost nothing is covered. The pension is an absolute joke, CP likes to coast on their reputation for having a generous pension plan but that hasn't been true for at least a decade. No paid sick days. Bare minimum vacation days, that must be used within extremely strict and restrictive timeline. They tell you if and when you're allowed to take a vacation, not you. Work from home hybrid is an insult, they assign you Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday and then you alternate. Everyone must be in office on Fridays. -they will call you in and book meetings all day on you're work from home days so that you're in office a full 5 days a week -the work from home schedule is not negotiable, straying or deviating in away way will lead to formal written warning/discipline.

80% pay benefits, which is ridiculous given Company size and bragging about record profits
