‘DOFASCO has a 1986 dental plan’
‘The training has suffered due to the drain of experienced personnel. The company waited way to long to hire. Team concept has led to most people on the shop floor knowing a tiny bit of every job but having no mastery of any one job. That's the way management wants it.’
‘WSIB is great, but management tries to talk you out of it at every chance they get in spite of doctor instructing an employee to stay off their feet for a week after wrenching an ankle on company property.’
It's great it covers dental, drugs, eye and even a little bit of hospital stays.
Best thing? We can get glasses and dental coverage is fairly good, too. Worst thing? Instead of capping like most benefit packages do, we have pay out of pocket for the first 16 chiropractic sessions (but still submit claims for them so they're on file) and after the 16 are we entitled to any reimbursement. Uh, I only go maybe once a month for an adjustment? Where's the "benefit" in that? Dispensing fees on prescriptions are also not covered. Not sure about massage therapy or any other, I haven't had to submit claims for anything like that as yet.
Minimum 16 out-of pocket chiropractic sessions before nay coverage. And how many times do I go a year? 6.
The benefits package is out of date
No benefits for contract workers for the first 2 years.
I am wondering if Arcelor-Dofasco has Rehab benefits? So far the benefits package has been very good. Best thing is that it continues until I die.
Best - Defined pension contributions plan in a strong financial year. Worst: Removed defined benefits plan. Defined pension contributions plan in a poor financial year. Reduced the maximum number of weeks vacation from 10 to 6 weeks.
The package has everything you need for a comfortable retirement, as well as a hefty payout. But you can only get benefits and profit-sharing once you become a permanent full-time employee, which may take a few years. Good bonuses. Vacation starts at two weeks.
Retirement Plan, Profit sharing after two years, Health, Dental, Vision and hearing benefits.
Excellent package that is not well understood by many newcomers who are looking for a menu of options to choose from.
List based on reports from current and former employees. It may not be complete.
