    The worst thing is the rates, you constantly need to be worrying about what your rate is and the best part is the employment benefits as the base pay is not a lot.

    Standard life insurance through a third party life insurance company -Great West Life. Its an opt in option and not an opt out for fulltime employees. Part-time employees do not participate in the program

    I have not compared the life insurance policy with the policies offered by other employers but what I know is 500k coverage in accidental death. They also have good coverage in long/short term disability.

    Only 2 years of your base salary. That is not enough time for your family to stabilize after such a loss. Suggest you get extra insurance, specially if you have children.
