    - Very decent package at par with bigwigs in the south

While there are fantastic people & environment right up there the product needs some real innovation to compete with the market.

    Pros

Get to develop tools that support software development and software teams. This means that CollabNet folks often use their own tools as part of their job, which allows them to understand the customer in a deeper way than at many jobs. You also get to work with a great team.

    Cons

Company somewhat lives in the shadow of other firms in the field of development team tools. They need to find a way to stake-out their own position in the world.

    Approves of CEO

A job, not a career or long-term employer

Current Employee - Software Engineer  in  Brisbane, CA (US)
Current Employee - Software Engineer in Brisbane, CA (US)

    Pros

The technology is used by a fair amount of companies, and your coworkers are always willing to help you understand why something was implemented or coded that way. A lot of people have a drive that makes you want to work there regardless of overall company climate. The sales team can sell ice to an eskimo.

    Cons

Many layers of management collude and make most tasks difficult
Marketing seemed to drive feature development for a few years
    No room for advancement
Corporate America structure (four or five layers of management) in a start-up culture
Still Top-Heavy from VA Software purchase
Not listening to customer requests and feedback
Losing customers to competitors due to product stagnation as a whole
Professional services team booked out for months at a time (makes it difficult to provide a solution to customers who want it now and can pay for it)
    No inter-department communication or cooperation
Small or no raises every year for Non-Plan Employees
Getting your Comp plan can be like pulling teeth
Management over promises and under delivers
Working with Indian coworkers with no sense of communication skills is very difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In order for TeamForge to be a truly disruptive ALM solution, you need to have a full-time, local to the development (which, means India based on the number of developers there), C-Level executive who is focused 100% on the development, direction, and velocity of the product -- not just 40 hours a week, but, someone who can put forward every second of every day without having to deal with a broken internal agile implementation or other company politics. Employees are disgruntled about the lack of advancement and the layers of management that interfere with pushing innovative products or solutions forward, and many, many promises about feature inclusion or enhancements have been pushed back for many years. Get rid of the CEO, VPes, and Management, (and I mean, get rid of them -- don't stick them in 'advisor' positions, clean out house!) and find management who will work with the passionate team of employees who take pride in their work to show folks who the ALM leader is.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO
