Dont believe that upper management cares about you.

EVS Supervisor (Former Employee) New Haven, CT (US)

ProsHas a positive reputation which is unfortunate because its one of the worst places I have ever worked .

ConsHospital acquiesce to the minorities and does not discipline equitably across racial lines. This leads to sub standard care ultimately because no matter what dept your talking about that dept in some way effects patient care.

Advice to Senior ManagementTurn in your keys and let more competent people give it a go.

Business Associate (Former Employee) New Haven, CT (US)

ProsThe benefits are great except that you have to pay for parking

ConsManagement is very unorganized. They don't care about there employees. I was currently employed and got injured working with patients and was let go because I got injured working. I'm still not able to work and they continue to not pay for anything associated with worker's comp. Management makes every excuse to not help employees to improve within the corporation. There is no structured and it was one of the worst places I have ever worked.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet better management that care about there employees that can take suggestions on how to improve how the department and patient care should be. They emergency department is run very poorly and the management is a joke. If your not in a relationship with a manager or know how to kiss butt to the management team, they will find every way to terminate your employment.

Registered Nurse (Former Employee) New Haven, CT (US)

ProsGreat hospital with a very dedicated staff. Overall management is good. Good relationships between nursing and physicians.

ConsVery large and busy acedemic medical center. If you are looking for a hospital where you will learn everyone's names - then Yale New Haven is not for you.

Resistant to change (for better or worse)

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPay, benefits , vacation, feeling of purpose - overall, a good place to work and advance - if you play politics.

ConsArbitrary rules, epitome of corporate environment , lack of connection from employees in business departments and their role in patient care

    Family oriented

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New Haven, CT (US)

ProsFamily oriented sometimes and they sometimes take care of their employees

Clinical Nurse I (Current Employee) New Haven, CT (US)

    ProsSupportive management on my unit.

ConsCliques and the "nurses eat their young" feeling towards new nurses.

Advice to Senior ManagementRecognize the needs of new nurses; provide continued feedback to experienced nurses that their role includes supporting and mentoring their newer colleagues.
