I have been working at WellPoint full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The group I work with is experienced and professional, and we get along well. Current manager is probably the best I have ever worked under.
Benefits are about average, or possibly a little better than average, but the health insurance is more costly than one might expect, mostly because it is pretty comprehensive.
If you are flexible in your tech skills, it is possible to move around in the IT organization.
Cons – Like any large publicly traded company, your experience will depend entirely on the particular group you work in.
Overly-reliant on IBM for infrastructure. It's a mixed result, with some groups being good and professional, and others less than useful.
Stock market likes the new CEO, but a new CEO might feel a need to mark his territory some time in the next year or so.
Government changes in health insurance regulations make everyone in the company a little jumpy.
Advice to Senior Management – Remember that in the health insurance industry, your data is EVERYTHING.

I have been working at WellPoint full-time
Pros – I know it all depends on your team and immediate manager, I should say I enjoy working for my team in WellPoint. Pros include healthy work culture, work-life balance, flexibility and benefits.
Cons – None. I really can't think of any.

I worked at WellPoint full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Thrived under good management
Customer focused, ethical and diversified business
Dedicated and experienced employees
Fair benefits and compensation package
Cons – Suffered under bad management
Abusive, threatening and lacking work-life balance
Non-existent professional development
Advice to Senior Management – Employees like me care and work hard. We should not have to suffer the slings and slights every day that abusive managers like to dole out and we should be allowed to take time off to care for ourselves when we are ill especially. Overall, I would have stayed if this had been the case. Also would have been so much more motivated if the environment promoted respect, collaboration and opportunities for personal and professional development.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at WellPoint full-time for more than a year
Pros – I'm finding it interesting there are so many good reviews here.
I work from home but did this at the previous place I work, so its not a big deal for me.
Cons – Incompetent managers. Mine doesn't act like a grown up. I've had 5 managers in less than a yr.
No raise for several yrs.
Outdated computer systems that fail frequently
Advice to Senior Management – In a better economy I would've been long ago. This company treats people with disdain and they don't want your advice. There is no way to review your manager which is wrong. Yet they can say whatever they want about you. Not good.....

I have been working at WellPoint full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Flexible work arrangements (work remotely, etc.)
Talented work force
Good compensation
Cons – *Processes / procedures are extremely inefficient (and have been for quite some time).
*Too many reorgs (at least once or twice a year). Just when things start to stabilize, everything is uprooted again for another reorg (and RIFs).
*Development of talent used to be a priority but no longer is.
*Health benefits aren't as good as you would expect from a company whose business is health insurance.
*Too many useless meetings.
*Relatively simple things are made complicated (may be side effect of being a very large company)
*Limited advancement opportunities for remote employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Correct above cons, but especially the first one. Associates have been saying for YEARS on the associate survey that processes are inefficient, but nothing has been done to improve them.

I have been working at WellPoint full-time
Pros – Largest Health plan so there is so much to do and learn. I'll encourgae young people to choose this company if they would like to setup their career in high pace and rewarding company.
Cons – I found not many issues. However, bringing many department to work togather is a challenge here. In all it can be overcome if you have good people skills.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing the good work. Hire more new garduate to allow them to learn with Wellpoint experienced team.

I have been working at WellPoint full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Highly competitive compensation while working for a national company and numerous opportunities for advancement. Many positions qualify for partial or full-time work work at home.
Cons – Company reorganizes frequently. Staff VP and higher titles have trouble staying with the organization for more than 3 years on average. Frequent re-orgs make it difficult to hold people accountable to goals because failures are then passed on to the next leader.
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on continuity of management. This would allow you to engage the best talent, leverage the broad knowledge in the company and would cause contributors to see their work as something they will have to stand behind vs. something that can hand off to their successor in the next re-org.

I have been working at WellPoint
Pros – Large, stable company (Fortune 500)
Cons – benefits can be much better
Advice to Senior Management – as a health insurance company, odd to have your employees pay for their health coverage
