Horrible

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Weatherford Laboratories

ProsParking spot located in the building

ConsGreat if you're looking to shorten your life span from mercury exposure.

Advice to Senior ManagementReplace current management with people who have business background, not random people who have worked there for a long time

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good place to get your foot in the door for a career in the oilfield.

Field Specialist, Core (Former Employee)
Houston, TX (US)

I worked at Weatherford Laboratories full-time for more than 3 years

ProsAgain, A good place to get your foot in the door for a career in the oilfield.
I would consider returning to work there if i had to only because i have history and experience there.

ConsThis post covers rock shop and field employees.
Compensation is not competitive..
limited respect for field personnel
Some company vehicles are not dependable for long distance. for example one vehicle had more than 300,000 miles and broke down multiple times. The safe transportation of people and the core(cargo) was at jeopardy many times.

Advice to Senior Managementrespect is very important for employee moral!!!!!

Weatherford Labs - Good place to work as long as that is all you want to do.

Core Hand - Technician (Current Employee)
Houston, TX (US)

I have been working at Weatherford Laboratories

ProsI do like working for the company - the people are great. The familiy feeling you get is hard to beat. We do work hard. When we get time - we play hard too.

ConsWhen you get hired on - ESPECIALLY SALARIED POSITIONS - You are working 24-7. Your phone becomes a leash and you don't have a life away from the job. Asking for time off is - well - almost impossible. You get two weeks a year - why can't you use it? Asking for it is like sitting on pins and needles. Even when you get it - they try to make you stay and work instead. Management otherwise is pretty decent. Not sure the money is competitive.

Advice to Senior ManagementThese people (most of them) that work for you are pretty die-hard.You already have our loyalty. It would be nice to get some more recognition for what we do and compensated appropriately (monetarily and vacation).
