I have been working at Walmart part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    -Decent benefits
    -Make new Friends
-The discount can be used on a leave of absence which is mighty useful.
-If you have the availability you can get extra hours, especially during the holidays
    -Sometimes there is free food

    Cons

-Management will stick you in a different where you will be as clueless as the customer to find a product
-There's supposed to be at least 2 people in the electronics department especially if you work at a smaller Walmart where you have to deal with he photo center at the same time. It can be hectic having to run back and forth to customers for 2 departments by yourself
-Like many other retail stores, customers will look down on you.

I have been working at Walmart

    Pros

Strict hiring practices; no unsavory characters hired. Generally OKs requested time off if written request in advance. Very strict with Safety issues. All paperwork must be in order if employees get hurt.

    Cons

Poor training for some. Assistant Managers demanding too much from hourly associates. Store Managers change frequently; which means store policies change, as well. Company doesn't care about employees, just the money. Customers complaining all the time. Not enough associates to do the work. We are expected to take on more responsibilities all the time. Often, when an employee leaves, other departments are expected to take over in that area. The store can't get help often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pitch in. Help get the stock to the floor. Try working as hard as the hourly paid associates. We have too much to be responsible for. The company sets us up to fail. We are always hearing about the "budgets". Damn your budgets!! Hire the help we need to assist the customer. After all; your policy is "The customer comes first."
