I have been working at Walmart full-time

    Pros

    - Constant work, you should never be idle
    - Ability to move to different departments if you express it enough
    - Different avenues to express ideas to upper management

    Cons

    - Part time to full time promotions are rare, seems like Walmart prefers to have everyone (except those Grandfathered from stores like Woolco) at the lowest possible benefit & pay possible
    - Management is trained via Walmart "schools", therefore many of them, not all, are very... slow to react to daily in store situations
    - Poor hygiene from some back room associates

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring individuals that cannot keep up with the pace you demand to operate in to keep up with competitors. Get rid of door greeters and hire better security. Hire younger staff during the day to help department managers and deter theft.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The entertaiment of watching other employees getting away with not pulling their weigh and still getting paid and nothing done about it. Other employers would have them out the door the first week.

    Cons

The $12 per hour wage for support manager for 2014 is unheard in this day and age.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your hard working workers. And open up your eyes and stop appreciating the ones that are just putting in time , and collecting a pay cheque.

    I worked at Walmart

    Pros

You get to work for the largest retailer in history! Advancement is possible for people, who for various reasons would be unlikely to advance in outher companies.

    Cons

A culture of watch your back, rather than lets work together. They do not hire nor promote the most competent people, but rather hold on to people by giving them a title, which most could never attain elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No one in history has ever stayed on top for ever but you can prolong you reign by promoting a culture of people working together. Hire people with knowledge. Give a critical look at yourself vs the competition.

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Plenty of opportunity for advancement for women, work-life balance is sometimes tough but is better than most large retail companies, good culture of learning and developing skills. This is a rare company where the results you can demonstrate are always going to be more important than a degree or diploma.

    Cons

Company is overly focused on promoting women and has been since 2011. There is nothing wrong with women in leadership and executive roles, but working here it will become painfully obvious that the company is pandering primarily to women and to a lesser extent young people. Pay for management is in line with other large retailers, but a bit low, and for store managers is exceptionally high... which will make it infuriating if you have a boss collecting six figures and beyond to check out completely for weeks at a time. Incentives to work harder are piss-poor if you are a department manager and have no desire to move into a salaried role - 50 cents is the best annual raise you can get even if you are the best in the world at your job. A useless pylon gets 30 cents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold your store managers and district managers to the same level of conduct standards as you do the associates in your store, and offer greater incentives for the hourly people to achieve.

    Pros

-work with team of guys unloading a truck
-Get to listen to your own music
    -never alone
-lots of hours good to pay off bills if you over 21
    - Tuesdays are no truck days good to relax a bit

    Cons

-Same 8 hour shift never changes ( 3pm-11pm)

    - night crew managers boss us around ( our manager is second shift )
    - VERY physically demanding be prepared for it
-say good bye to your free weekends
    - LOTS of tetris playing ( gotta stack boxes half of the shift )
