I worked at UniversalPegasus International full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – 401k match is better than most. Cost of insurance is reasonable. Combined engineering principles allow for a full solution package to the client.
Cons – UniversalPegasus is extremely top heavy to the point in which most managers have one to two direct reports. The termination of employees whom have significant foothold in the industry has cost the company projects as the clients follow the employee. Employees are resigning on the average of 10 a week. Upon the initial merger of UniversalEnsco and Pegasus International, there was a total of 1500+ employees of which now there is less than 950. The entire automation department has left due to upper management restriciting their ability to satisfy the client. The survey department is running a skeleton crew now and is in the talks to be sold. The IT department has just recently lost all of its top tier support with 4 key employees leaving in 2 weeks due to micro management from IT managers. The pay is based upon a market analysis which is lower than the competitors. Too many chiefs and not enough indians.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay employees what they are worth and not use the "market analysis" excuse for low pay. Hire more workers and less managers. Train managers on how to speak to and interact with direct reports. Eliminate a few of the over paid Business systems managers as there is no need for 5 highly paid managers leading 15 underpaid direct reports.

Pros – Came into the company to gain more project management experience. The company gets engaged on projects because of their misconcepted strength.
Cons – Too many 'Managers' with no responsibilities. Title is thrown around like baseball. Even a Secrertary is called 'Project Coordinator/Scheduler' etc. Vice Presidents' infighting is very dorminant in the company, with each competing for unhealthy relevance.
Advice to Senior Management – Steamline your organization. Too many duplicity in functions, amounting to waste. Let a manager be a manager and don't be hiding the bonus sharing formula. It hurts to find out a subordinate earns more than a supervisor. Very common at UniversalPegasus.

Pros – There is a pool of employees with an incredibly diverse range of talents. Projects are consistently challenging, the work is satisfying, and instances of pidgeonholing employees are rare. The work environment is extraordinarily flexible and accommodating.
Cons – For most positions pay is around 10-20% below industry standard. Professional development, while not inhibited, is rarely encouraged. As such, professional growth is largely an independent pursuit. Corporate incentives are either token or non-existent.
Advice to Senior Management – With only an exception or two, Project Managers are knowledgeable and wholly competent. Projects are run very cohesively and, as such, the quality of our results is demonstrable - for now. Senior management, however, is mostly disassociated from the workforce.
As of now company growth seems to be dictated by the whims of stockholders rather than projected industry demand. While there is certainly a need to grow as a company, the current directive is overly aggressive and poorly managed. As a result the quality of our products in certain markets has been steadily declining as we divert attention to attaining unrealistic expectations. Dissemination of corporate information needs to occur more regularly and with clearer, reasonable objectives. The average employee, on the whole, needs to be made aware of where we sit as a company and be given opportunity to grow within. The alternative is to continue watching the turnover rate rise and the quality of product fall.

Pros – Good talent in the technical pool. Pretty good responsiveness to project needs. Company revenue growth provides stable employment in any job class. New marketshare opportunities are opening new working locations. Many construction services and technical services opportunities exist with this company.
Employee working with UniversalPegasus should expect to have a stable income position with benefits.
Cons – Poor company planning with respect to "company growth" and "career growth". Less than average performance in company directives/coorporate communications with employees. Less than average training and quality monitoring. Poor emphasis and support on career objectives and individual performance/growth hinders morale of leadership and technical staff. Most important goal is to meet profit targets set by financial company board of directors.
Employees working with UniversalPegasus should expect to bill as many hours as possible to project budgets to "maximize profit" where project completion metric comes later.
Advice to Senior Management – Delegate leadership and communication responsibilities to lower managers and follow-up to see if things are "filtering" to employees. Try to manage employees as a group instead of telling individual employees one-on-one. Try small steps with respect to receiving emplyee feedback on how best to help manage instead of direct employees.

Pros – The paycheck is above market average. They have multiple projects to run, the business is more stable than its competitors.
Cons – -lots of managers with no degree, rude to the employee, and have no respect to anyoe
-employess either worry about layoff or play office politics
-project management are poor, always have to wait the last minute to get response, than work overtime
-no promotion or raise until you complain. You have to be your boss's buddy to get promoted.
Advice to Senior Management – get rid of the old "Buddy System", promote people with talent and knowledge. Encourage training and industry knowledge share. build up a career development plan for every employee

Pros – Money and over all the people a nice
Cons – No place to grow in your career No place to get prompted.
A lot of politics….From up to down everybody is more focus in politics then on the work.
The upper management is working for the last 3 years on the job descriptions and job titles.
You can not trust anybody
Advice to Senior Management – Open your eyes before is not to late

Pros – In normal circumstances the pay is fairly good for someone with a limited education, but for the field it is very low. Decent job if you're desperate and need the short term money.
Cons – No great opportunities for advancement. A promotion means that you are in a higher position, but also that you have less experience in that position than someone else so you are more likely to be laid off with no chance to go back down to your original position. The work is unpredictable. They do not care about your performance when it comes to raises or advancement. It’s who your friends are in the company or just being at the right place at the right time. Regardless if it is your fault or not, if the job you are currently on is ending there is no reassignment based on experience, you simply get laid off. Paychecks are decent overall, but hourly is only a step out of minimum wage so overtime doesn't help all that much. For the past 3 years there have been no bonuses.
Advice to Senior Management – Take care of your employees. Base a person's wage and whether or not to be laid off on experience, not friends and luck.

Pros – Location and pay are good; some good people though they had mass layoffs of a lot of hard-working employees.
Cons – No fairness in promotions and projects. Very little training and opportunity for advancement. Nepotism and cronyism are rampant. Management cannot seem to get it together with a strategy; there were numerous organizational changes in a very short period of time.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't promote people just because you like them or are related to them. Trust your own employees instead of having an army of consultants to get work done. Don't treat your employees like garbage; they can figure out when your "town hall" meetings are staged!!

I worked at UniversalPegasus International
Pros – The best reason to work at UniversalPegasus is the money. They pay well for people who are in positions they would not be able to get else where. They also have lots of over time available.
Cons – The downside the management is horrible.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay attention to what your employees are doing.

I have been working at UniversalPegasus International
Pros – Good location within the city. Universal is focusing on better overall health of its employees and have provided seminars, contests, etc to benefit them. A recent reorganization has helped clear up the overall structure of the company. The company seems to have a good foot hold in the industry. Pay is good.
Cons – The HR group seems to have hands tied due to the buddy system that is still in place even though a reorganization has occured. It does not matter how long you worked with the company but how much you make the company. Promotions are only given if a vacancy opens or if you complain. They pay well to hope you put up with the lack of middle management. Training is not available to those who work with growing technologies.
Advice to Senior Management – Let HR enforce the company policies accordingly. Do not hire/lay-off based on billable hours but on work ethic and overall worth.
