I worked at US Department of Defense full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The work-life balance is great. It's a low stress slow paced environment and ther are pretty reasonable benefits.

    Cons

There is a lot of paperwork/red tape making it hard to feel like you're making any real difference. It isn't very challenging and I didn't feel like I was learning very much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There's no advice to give. It's the government. Everyone wants to make a change, but there are no mechanisms in place to let it happen.
