Unit Administrator for a Army Reserve unit. Dual military and civillian career field.

Unit Administrator (Current Employee)
Belleville, IL (US)

I have been working at US Department of Defense full-time for more than 3 years

ProsMany intrinsic rewards. It always great guiding new Soldiers and preparing them for a possible long military career.Good benefits such as affordable insurance, paid time off, and training opportunities. Good entry level job.

ConsPay is not great. If senior leadership is bad, there is a toxic environment until change over. Not much advancement opportunity. Some people are cut throat and do what they can only for themselves. UA is not a career. Plan on about 3-5 years and move on.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake more time in developing new administrators and relize that each number in unit matrix's are people.
