    Pros

There are many good and smart people. Focus is on getting better all the time. Lots of opportunities to learn and to contribute. Management emphasis is properly on responsible profit.

    Cons

Tight deadlines are used to motivate people. Management can try to do too much at once. Different parts of the business may not always work together.

    I worked at Travelers Companies

    Pros

Manager's are always willing to listen, they have an open door policy. A good place to work. There are a lot of competitive employees who are up to a good challenge.

    Cons

Things are constantly changing and therefore there is no consistency across the company. Some of the systems used ,in Canada, seem to be outdated. They need to speed up on improving their IT and software programs to keep up with other insurance companies that are more automated.

they care about the employees and reward their hard work very well. They have great product and good customer service...

    Cons

so far, i have not noticed much of con's except for some of the benefits.. they are good but different than what we used to have at Dominion.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

The environment and culture in our department was great, there was a perfect balance of work and life. It felt like a family and it made it difficult to leave. The work was consistent and the company doesn't like to fire people so they will find a new position for you if you need more to do. They also value go-getters so the more confident you are the better off you'll be.

    Cons

With most people having been there for 5 years+ there is not much room for advancement. You can get a "senior" in front of your title but not a change in position. The benefits is alright but compared to other companies, it's not much.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to manage, some people see your relaxed attitude and take advantage of it. The favoritism is obvious to everyone and sometimes they are deserved but please learn to value those who are loyal and doing great work as well.

Not in tune with what employees want and need. I would be a better employee if I had more work life balance.

    Pros

Company is solid organization with good leadership at the top. Travelers compensates its employees well and offers a full range of benefits. PTO is good.

    Cons

If not working in Hartford or New York, there do not appear to be many opportunities for growth. Although leadership at the top is good, the solid leadership is not carried down throughout the organization. Decisions seem to be made at top level and employee views are not valued.
