I have been working at Toni & Guy

    Pros

Easy going, laid back work environment. Clients are easy to work with and you are constantly getting more education. Also the ability to move up in tGe company

    Cons

Working in a mall has its pros and cons. I'd rather the salon not be at the mall..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always be on your teams side.

I have been working at Toni & Guy

    Pros

Working with Wella products and getting training with wella
Label m product training at tafe
Training at toni & Guy academy
Getting the opportunity to work back stage at fashion events

    Cons

    Very low wages
Long work hours - no life outside of work
Treated poorly by management, they are too money hungry
    Don't get paid overtime
Always get negative feedback from our boss every Saturday meeting
Toni & Guy adademy is very strict and slow pace, students get frustrated
Hard to hit our targets, always feeling stressed
    Assistants are treated like slaves
    Prices are very expensive
Customers are often forced to buy products by our boss, it looks unprofessional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to treat collegues fairly and lift your game. Staff need to be treated better, you need to think more about your employees than just how much money you're making. We're human and we do have a life outside of work, family also. We need to be able to provide for our family, it's very hard on the terrible wage you give us. Why charge double the average salon yet pay so little? You could at least pay overtime. I've worked 4 hours overtime this week and not a single cent was given.. This isn't good enough Toni & Guy.

I have been working at Toni & Guy

    Pros

If you are looking for experience, this is definitely the place to go. You work on anything they might need next which can range from interior design to billboard all the way to online banner and web micro-sites.

    Cons

Experience is definitely the only pay off. You don't get payed as much, because they work with a skeleton crew you find yourself doing everything and management usually does not understand their roles in the company so their is a constant shift in titles and positions.

I have been working at Toni & Guy full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It is nice to get free hair services, including color.

    Cons

No work life balance, no training, no pay for overtime- this is a franchise so may not be true of all locations. However, Toni & Guy corporate is not protecting their brand and making sure that the franchisees are delivering on the promises of the company name.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Check in on your franchisees and make sure that they are conforming to your brand requirements. I work in one of the Hairdressing Academies, and it looks nothing like the images that are promoted by your website. The students are kind of getting the curriculum that they are promised during their admissions meetings, but my school is nothing like I expected it to be based on learning about the history of Toni&Guy and the education division.

I worked at Toni & Guy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Expert training, artistic and trade show experience. Learn how to create artistic photos and create top notch trendy hair fashions. Compensation is fair.

    Cons

Growth is reserved for certain individuals. Environment can tend to get snobby at times, if you do not have a "thick skin", you may not want to apply.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be clear on your expectations, don't pick favorites based on gender or appearance.

    Pros

Great work environment and as far as salons go, best place to work for stability.

    Cons

Its a huge corporation so you're just a number and corporate lets you know you can easily be replaced. You will only get so far in this company. You will never be able to progress past a certain point.
