I worked at Time Warner full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, work-life balance, mgmt, lots of perks (free cable, internet). There are also multiple volunteer opportunities as well as opportunities to move around within the company.

    Cons

Communication between departments. It would help if everyone understood what other departments actually do to help the customer experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Cons

Corporate culture of the company is inflexible when it comes to dealing with creative careers.
    Low Salary
Expectations are the same for you as there are elsewhere in the business where more money and resources are available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that you cannot have the same review techniques or management training for people who are journalists and people who install cable.

I have been working at Time Warner

    Pros

Highly competitive compensation with great benefits. People are intelligent and hardworking and generally able maintain a desirable work-life balance. Management is highly competent and employees are empowered to do their jobs largely unchecked or micromanaged. There's a sense that the executives know what they're doing which fosters confidence in the employees across the company.

    Cons

A very corporate and somewhat stuffy work environment that lacks a sense of community. Red tape and a top heavy executive structure also seems to limit fresh ideas and innovation. It's a fine place to settle in and get cozy for a while but don't expect to rock the boat or sow your creative oats.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Time Warner full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, higher than average compensation at Corporate.

    Cons

The culture is resistant to change and there aren't enough female leaders to effect gender diversity, especially in the senior management ranks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your most valuable assets - its people. Identify those employees who have demonstrated good work and ambition to do more by challenging them and promoting them to be in non-traditional roles to help them learn the business. Promote gender and race diversity to shift the culture to embrace change and drive innovation of thought. There are many "old timers" in key decision-making positions who are obtuse to implicit biases against women.
