I worked at Thomas Cook (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great co-workers,
    Great Customers
    Good suppliers

    Cons

    Too numbers focused
    Not enough marketing support
    No support from Senior Management
Threats if performance is not at their perceived level. $50.00 revenue per hour is not a realistic goal in this economy or marketing place.

I have been working at Thomas Cook full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Welcoming atmosphere, a lot of honesty, few pointless meetings, no 'old boys club' feel, a good feeling of optimism.

    Cons

Huge company-wide transformation which makes things a little confusing at times, some out-dated, out-sourced approaches to things like IT but credit where it's due, that's all changed and there are actual English people working for us.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to move more things back to the UK, overseas is good but you can create more opportunity at home if you open up more. Also do something about the sheds we work in!!!

    I worked at Thomas Cook

    Pros

The company is in a transformation stage and definitely on the right track. New senior management have defined a vision for the future and are committed to delivering it.

    Cons

Business units tend to work in silos and frequently display "sibling rivalry' traits. There is a constant power battle at middle and senior management levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the concerns of your people. They genuinely want to embark on this journey with you but need to feel they are part of the team.

I worked at Thomas Cook full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers all worked hard with limited systems and high caseloads

    Cons

Manager at the time was awful, belittled people and divulged supposedly confidential discussions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust your grass roots staff; you hired them to do a job; let them do it.

    Lose the ridiculous PROUD mantra

I have been working at Thomas Cook full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are lucky you will have a great cluster manager like mine, if not there are no other pros

    Cons

    Extremely bad salaries
You never get appreciated for what you do for the company
Aiming for the future but taking 1 step forward and 5 steps back
Believes that hassling customers with a barrage of phone calls is good customer service
Sacks people if they get another job, even if its part time
Sexist, unfair and just a horrible place to work, where you will have no future and try your best for a below basic wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sort yourselves out and start looking after your staff instead of the fat cats at the top.
