I worked at The Vanguard Group full-time for more than a year
Pros – Work/Life balance, on-site dining, gym w/ showers, family events throughout the year; great training programs; take in to consideration opinions of lower-level employee; ample team meetings; great intranet; too many more, I could go on forever!
Cons – I wish they had branch offices sprinkled throughout the region (like a Schwab or Fidelity or Edward Jones)
Advice to Senior Management – I love my management team, even Jack Bogel would sit with people at lunch LOL
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at The Vanguard Group full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The benefits are great, but not what it used to be. The partnership is great, but not what it used to be.
Cons – The pay sucks unless you've been there for a long, long time but even then compared to you doing the same job at another company the pay sucks.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop stunting growth and creativity!

I worked at The Vanguard Group full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – On sight training
Generous paid time off
Cons – Work life balance does not apply to low level employee
Company changes bonus structure if needed to save money.
Processing associates have shift changes 2x a year adding, further complicating the work life balance thingy.
Complicated system upgrades that do not work slowing down productivity and creating several work arounds.
Excessive forced overtime.
Advice to Senior Management – Better support overachievng crewmembers to recieve promotions.
They are poopie heads
– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at The Vanguard Group as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – Good working conditions, generally nice people, good cafeteria.
Cons – Poor on-boarding experience. Not great assistance from my mentors and other employees when I ran into trouble.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't just terminate employees and contractors, help them improve. Also, provide ultimatums so they know what details are important prior to terminating semi-unexpectedly.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

I have been working at The Vanguard Group full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – - Pretty good benefits
- Allowed to look for opportunities
- Bursts of company growth
Cons – - Decisions that negatively impact employees are communicated as "this is best for you"
- Slowing chipping away at what once made Vanguard unique
- Avoids changing with the times
Advice to Senior Management – Give your employees more credit and understand they know they are often getting "screwed" with changes to company policy. Also do not think you are at the forefront of many of your fringe benefits when other companies have been offering them for years!

I worked at The Vanguard Group full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – -benefits for entry level first day employees
-vacation time- entry level receives 16 days plus a volunteer day
-401k match of 4%, 2.5% at the end of every quarter
-parntership payment
Cons – -Below standard pay
-upper management has no idea what is going on
-hard to advance
Advice to Senior Management – -get the best person for the job- not the biggest brown noser
-before buying a big system or making a huge change, ask the workers that will be effected, not there supervisor who don't have access to current system

I have been working at The Vanguard Group full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Benefits, 401K, vision dental, life insurance policy, licenses are paid for, professional training.
Cons – Vanguard runs at cost. This is great for the client, but your pay and growth within the company especially in North Carolina and Arizona will cap out @ around $50K.
Advice to Senior Management – 30 and 45 minute lunches outside of tax season should always be optional. Running a business at cost and efficiently was the dream of Jack Bogle; running a business understaffed and having clients wait 15-20 minutes before they reach an associate was not.

I have been working at The Vanguard Group
Pros – Anyone there can do a great job.
Cons – If you do a great job, chances are you won't get much for it, even though you outperform others.
Advice to Senior Management – Take a look at your middle management and make changes.

I have been working at The Vanguard Group full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – -Great benefits( fitness center, on-site clinic, profit sharing, generous vacation days, work-life balance, and many more). Tuition reimbursement, community garden, volunteer day off!!
-I work with so many crew who are so passionate about their jobs. Client focused!
- Mr.McNabb is so awesome, very personable, he makes time for his employees!
Cons – -inconsistencies among managers!
-can be too controlling and this kills creativity!
Advice to Senior Management – -promote consistencies across the company. I have seen people leave Vanguard before having opportunities to see what a great company we are. I moved to a different division and feel like I am working for a different company.
