Pros – Some really good projects to work on. But if you are really lucky you will get a good project.
As a fresher sometimes people get shitty projects and work.

Cons – Its a monster in size. You would get lost in the crowd. Recognition is a rare event with big crowd.

Advice to Senior Management – Think about people also. People who are working under you are not your servant. They are also capable and deserve some credit.

Pros – Company as a whole employee friendly but your luck matters in which project you will land up :D

Cons – I found few incompetent persons who were given an onus of leading the project. They just dont have the patience thing and always keep crying instead of correcting things.

Advice to Senior Management – Please look into the competencies and skill of employees before pushing them to something ... so that you will be able to utilize there potential in a better way.

Pros – Job Security , Company has good name in the software field ,good Onsite opportunities (off course you will be at minimum possible wage for that country ) and chance to work with variety of technologies/clients . Laid back company . If you aren't looking for career advancements later but just to hang on ,you ll get many opportunities that suit your needs .

Cons – Comparative Low Salary , Lack of inspiring leaders , Higher management is not in touch with ranks , HR is only interested in getting herds in and is not much interested in employees welfare , most support groups e.g HR, RMG , Admin work governmental style with lack of accountability and professionalism and even basic manners (with rare exceptions off course) . Appraisal process is non transparent and HR is totally ineffective and reluctant in changing the scenario.Its based on future potential/need of associate in project rather than performance . Project planning is dismal . Sales dept over commits without consulting the project, then take freshers to cut costs and pad their resume.The result is unplanned hurried work where aim is to get project out of door with least attention to quality. Not much chance of career advancements if you want to remain technical . If you really want to learn choose Staff Augmentation projects and not the internal ones.

Advice to Senior Management – TCS is well respected company , but if the way things are being managed now remains for long good name won't sustain the ship for long.

Cons – Less focus on employee development, improper implementation of rotation policy for onsite, bad handling of transfer cases.

Transparent & consolidated policies in the internal system
Hardly any layoffs during recession
Good onsite opportunities

Cons – Non-competent middle management
Fewer challenges at work
Mostly support projects
Salary is quite less
Band system for judgement at the discretion of the manager

Advice to Senior Management – The band system for appraisals should be done away with, consider an average of the two half year ratings for the appraisal, bring about a system where in at least a feedback, if not a rating, can be given to the managers from the team member's end.

Regular promotion as per your experience!!
If you are lucky, you may get an opportunity to travel outside of India!!

Cons – Repetitive work!!
Appraisal is based on your experience instead of performance!!
No learning!!

Advice to Senior Management – should ensure resource not allocated in one project for considerable time as this helps only Sr. mgmt. to screwed other resources appraisal & they never get an opportunity to prove themselves. Also, most of employee move out of TCS because there is no easy release from project if you want to save your appraisal!!
