    Pros

Flexible work schedule. They don't care when you come in, when you leave office, or work from home, as long as you get the jobs done. Almost no overtime work.
Most people are easygoing and relaxed.
Opportunities to move up the ladder due to relatively high turn-over rate.

    Cons

    Too much outsourcing. Outdated building.
    Always understaffed.

    Pros

    Great employee culture
    Secure customer base
    Seasoned / high tenure workforce

    Cons

    Little room for advancement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Deep dive into the performance metrics before making cuts division-wide - specifically relating to commercial steering systems

I worked at TRW Automotive full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good place to work at the plant level. The East TN people are wonderful to work with and they are willing to attack the difficult issues head on.

    Cons

Work life imbalance. The many layers of management made it difficult to get anything done. Do many different audits that you will spend at least three months out of the year either preparing, performing or correcting audit issues. It appears that most of the audits were created to add a management position for someone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go to the plant and see first hand what they need for success.

I have been working at TRW Automotive full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Once you are a well respected employee, people start to treat you better. Lots of freedoms, for the most part (for salaried employees)

    Cons

Earning the respect of "knowing what you're talking about" is overwhelming to a lot of people and so they think its a bad place. Things change at a ridiculous pace so you have to ebb and flow with the environment. I'm too good for my current position so I will never get promoted -- they cant afford to lose me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Slow down and pull the place together. There are too many low-level people making different decisions that dont align with one another. The management team needs to provide and enforce a common direction (but TAKE TIME developing that direction -- dont just whip it out there and MANDATE it for the next three weeks and then forget about it again.)

I worked at TRW Automotive full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good working environment that is small enough where you can have your center stage. Opportunities to learn various disciplines about the business side and the technical side.

    Cons

Work-life balance can be difficult depending on your job function and some weeks you will work more than 40 hours during crisis mode (nature of the business) Maybe tough to move up the ladder within this company but is a great stepping stone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Invest in updating your technology!

    Pros

You definitely will get a crash course in LEAN manufacturing.

    Cons

Little to no support from management and HR. "Just shut up and do it or the door is right there" attitude.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revisit the culture you had 10-15 years ago and maybe the talented and knowledgeable staff will remain.
